With Covid planning, as with any other activity, there are difficult decisions to be made. It does not help that we avoid being explicit about the choices.
Today the papers lead with news of primary school children returning or not returning to school. Some children will become infected with Covid-19. Some teachers and a few pupils will become very ill and die as a consequence of returning to school.
If the children do not go to school it is likely that the ultimate educational achievement of some will be set back permanently.
So how do we balance? Possible deaths of some children and their relatives - Possible deaths of some teachers and their relatives - Retarding the educational achievement of many children.
